Tea is an ancient beverage that has changed the face of world since prehistory. Originally tea was used for its medicinal qualities. Soon people began to enjoy tea for it’s pleasant, mildly simulating, qualties. Today, millions of people from around the world start their day with a brisk cup of tea or sip a cup in the afternoon to smooth out the rough edges of a busy day. The health bennefits of tea have given tea a lot of press in the news today. We encourage you to come in and enjoy one of our 28 varieties of teas.
There are five distinct types of tea: Oloong, Green, Black, White, and Pu-erh.
Oolong
Oolongs are partially oxidized teas that tend have flavors ranging from smoky to fruity. They are often described as complex in character.
Green Tea
Green Teas is not oxidized and can be manufactures in a number of ways such as pan frying to steaming. China and Japan are the best known producers of green teas. The variety of green teas and their manufacturing make it hard to describe them, but they can range from floral, vegetal smoky or astringent.
Black Tea
Black Teas is the most widely consumed20tea in the world. India and China are the best known producers of black tea. Cup characteristics range from light to robust. Black tea is the base to many blends such as
English Breakfast or Earl Grey.
White
White tea derives its name from the tiny white hairs that cover the buds. These delicate teas offer a subtle jam like flavors reminiscent of apricot or peaches.
Pu-erh
Pu-erh is typically a fermented aged tea from China’s Yunnan province. This deep rich tea is often very floral in aroma with earthy orange notes.
Caffeine Free
In addition to these “true teas” there are two other types of teas. The first of these are herbals and tinsanes. These are non tea material such as flowers, herbs or dried fruit that steep like teas. Then there are the Rooibos. This is a family of tea that comes out of South Africa. Rooibos, or Red Tea, are smooth flavored tea. Both herbals and Rooibos are caffeine free.
From these different types of teas an unlimited amount of blending creates a catalog of teas that can please every palate. In addition to these “True Teas” herbal and fruit tinsanes offer unique tastes that contain no caffeine.
